{"id":22206,"date":"2026-06-06T11:46:05","date_gmt":"2026-06-06T11:46:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businessprofittoday.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/06\/team-usas-loudest-supporters-say-fifa-pushed-them-to-upper-deck-for-world-cup\/"},"modified":"2026-06-06T11:46:05","modified_gmt":"2026-06-06T11:46:05","slug":"team-usas-loudest-supporters-say-fifa-pushed-them-to-upper-deck-for-world-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businessprofittoday.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/06\/team-usas-loudest-supporters-say-fifa-pushed-them-to-upper-deck-for-world-cup\/","title":{"rendered":"Team USA\u2019s loudest supporters say FIFA pushed them to upper deck for World Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"anchor-92c340\" class=\"body-graf\">When the U.S. men\u2019s national soccer team plays at home, its most loyal fans traditionally sit right behind a goal to cheer on the team or intimidate the opposition.  <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-1702f7\" class=\"body-graf\">But when the Americans kick off a once-in-a-generation World Cup in Southern California next week, many of those die-hard supporters may be harder to hear because FIFA seated them in the \u201cnose bleeds,\u201d according to a major U.S. fan group.<\/p>\n<div id=\"taboolaReadMoreBelow\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"anchor-e9e5d2\" class=\"body-graf\">\u201cThese are the worst tickets that I\u2019ve ever seen out of the five World Cups I\u2019ve been to,\u201d American Outlaws President Brian Hexsel said in a phone interview. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-623d52\" class=\"body-graf\">FIFA\u2019s World Cup ticketing rollout has faced withering criticism for months, particularly for its sky-high prices. There have also been allegations that some ticket buyers got worse seats than expected, sparking investigations in New York and New Jersey. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-0ee5b6\" class=\"body-graf\">In the blowback, soccer\u2019s global governing body announced a small allotment of $60 tickets for each of the tournament\u2019s 104 matches.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-ab849f\" class=\"body-graf\">FIFA didn\u2019t immediately comment for this article. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"styles_inlineImage__FvnTh styles_medium__MEKii\" id=\"anchor-b745be\"><figcaption class=\"caption styles_caption__TCewG\" data-testid=\"caption\"><span class=\"caption__container\" data-testid=\"caption__container\">Cristian Roldan, center, and the U.S. team applaud fans after their loss to Belgium at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on March 28.<\/span><span class=\"caption__source\" data-testid=\"caption__source\">Kevin C. Cox \/ Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p id=\"anchor-77a49d\" class=\"body-graf\">Participating member associations, including U.S. Soccer, would manage \u201cthe selection and distribution process,\u201d said FIFA, which emphasized it was asking the associations to \u201censure that these tickets are specifically allocated to loyal fans who are closely connected to their national teams.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-dda589\" class=\"body-graf\">The American Outlaws are such fans. The organization says it has more than 200 chapters worldwide sharing one goal: cheering on U.S. Soccer\u2019s teams. The group travels to matches with hand-painted banners, a giant American flag, drums and organized chants \u2014 all of it typically on display right behind the net.<\/p>\n<div class=\"styles_recommendedIntersectionRef__vQEf5\" data-activity-map=\"recommended-article-body-recommended\" data-testid=\"recommended-wrapper\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"styles_recommendedIntersectionRef__vQEf5\" data-activity-map=\"recommended-article-body-recommended\" data-testid=\"recommended-wrapper\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"anchor-e980dc\" class=\"body-graf\">But this summer, American Outlaws members with $60 tickets will be in upper decks at each of the team\u2019s three group stage matches, Hexsel said. That seating arrangement means some of the most fervent fans will be physically farther from the pitch, potentially making it harder for players to hear their shouts. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-b1a1c1\" class=\"body-graf\">Hexsel said U.S. Soccer told him Monday that the $60 seats will be in sections 302 through 310 for the team\u2019s first match against Paraguay at Los Angeles County\u2019s SoFi Stadium, sections 310 through 315 in Seattle\u2019s Lumen Field for the second match against Australia and section 426 for the third match back at SoFi against Turkey \u2014 putting fans even higher than they\u2019d be seated for the first match.<\/p>\n<section id=\"anchor-613011\" class=\"embed-widget embedWidget embed-widget--scroll-table embed-widget--medium\" data-testid=\"embed-widget\">\n<div class=\"embed-widget__use-presentation\" data-testid=\"advanced-embed\"><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p id=\"anchor-77c1ca\" class=\"body-graf\">U.S. Soccer told NBC News the $60 tickets are in sections 306 through 310 for the Paraguay match, sections 302 through 304 for the Australia match and sections 426 through 431 against Turkey. It didn\u2019t provide further comment.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-7beda4\" class=\"body-graf\">When the tickets started landing in people\u2019s accounts Monday night, \u201cmy phone just blew up,\u201d Hexsel said. \u201cEverybody was pissed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-6d282d\" class=\"body-graf\">It\u2019s not clear whether fan groups for the World Cup\u2019s other competing countries have been affected in the same way. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-9da4d6\" class=\"body-graf\">Juan Felipe Garay, coordinator of Colombia\u2019s biggest supporters\u2019 group, Fiebre Amarilla, told NBC News the group doesn\u2019t yet know where its $60 seats will be for Colombia\u2019s matches. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-45ebbd\" class=\"body-graf\">But Hexsel said that without question, for the American die-hards, a World Cup in their own backyard now \u201cdoes not feel like we are playing in the U.S.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-90ab85\" class=\"body-graf\">South Florida superfan Burak, who asked that his last name not be published for privacy, told NBC News on Monday night that a ticket in the \u201c400s\u201d showed up in his account for the third U.S. match.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-d9f3f9\" class=\"body-graf\">Burak said he laughed with his wife about the situation and hadn\u2019t expected better seats. He prefers being high up at a match when he\u2019s trying to \u201cread the play.\u201d But, he said, watching is secondary to making an impact when you\u2019re in the supporters\u2019 section.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-aa44fd\" class=\"body-graf\">\u201cIf you\u2019re up at nosebleed 400s, your reaction doesn\u2019t even matter. No one\u2019s going to hear, see or notice,\u201d he wrote in a text message.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-84dfff\" class=\"body-graf\">Another U.S. fan, Gabriel Miguel, said, \u201cI thought it could be worse.\u201d <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-73bc84\" class=\"body-graf\">Miguel scored $60 tickets to the opening U.S. match against Paraguay. He\u2019ll be in section 308 and said he\u2019s \u201cmostly grateful\u201d just to be in the building.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-3b5826\" class=\"body-graf\">\u201cI would love to have been down in the lower action, but I mean, 300s is perfectly fine, especially for that price.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-8d3544\" class=\"body-graf\">American supporter Logan Pedersen said, \u201cWe could have been higher up &#8230; not by far.\u201d <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-3da998\" class=\"body-graf\">Pedersen said in a phone interview that he got \u201cthe golden ticket,\u201d getting to see the opening U.S. match at such a relatively low cost. He\u2019s \u201cjust glad to be in the stadium,\u201d but he also said FIFA\u2019s ticketing \u201cprocess has been a nightmare.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-374cce\" class=\"body-graf\">\u201cIt\u2019s still super disappointing from FIFA that they\u2019re not at least designating a section for, you know, 500 fans from each team directly behind the goal. I think it\u2019s a huge loss for the atmosphere that\u2019s gonna go on in the stadium,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-90ab9d\" class=\"body-graf\">Hexsel said of the seating arrangements, \u201cIt just means we gotta bring more drums and more noise to show the team that &#8230; we still showed up.\u201d <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-c401c7\" class=\"body-graf\">\u201cFIFA could have just said: \u2018Hey &#8230; it\u2019s 300, it\u2019s 200. Yeah, it\u2019s a little bit more than what you paid in Qatar, but you guys have a block of seats where you\u2019ve always had a block of seats,\u2019 and people would have paid it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-3a59b6\" class=\"body-graf\">Burak said by text message: \u201cI\u2019m just glad I can at least go to some games with the supporter price. I accept my small guy status. If we had a strong community, I\u2019d be all about boycotting the WC all together. But that\u2019s not how people are, that will never happen. And Fifa is feeding off of that. They know someone will show up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-cc33a2\" class=\"endmark body-graf\">Said Miguel: \u201cI\u2019m happy to be going, at least, and it\u2019s more like memories than anything. Could it be better? Of course. But &#8230; they dropped the ball from the beginning with this.
